For the price, this tomato paste is a great deal. It has a smooth texture and a nice, simple tomato flavor. It's ready to use as a soon as you open the can, no mixing required. This tomato paste might not be fancy, but it is good and can be used anywhere tomato paste is required. If you're recipe only calls for a small amount of tomato paste, you might want to be prepared to freeze the leftovers. This is one of my go-to choices when I'm shopping for tomato paste, since it is a better deal than a lot of other brands and I think it tastes good too.

These days, canned tomato products need to be thickened a great deal more than, say, thirty or forty years ago. (If a product can be watered down...count on the men in the white lab coats to jump on it)! I thicken all of my tomato sauces made from old recipes.
