Lock and Roll

I probably own a dozen tape measures. Not really a fixation, but more a matter of convenience. Seems I always need to measure something.I like both of these. They're a practical length at 25 feet.I particularly appreciate the Auto Lock. When you pull the tape out it stays out until you push the red button to unlock.The dual lock has the more familiar (to me) manual locking slide. It also has a button on the bottom that locks the blade only as long as you keep pressing it. Good for quick hands-on measuring.I like the millimeter measurements on the underside of the tape for my occasional foray into the land of metrics

I love the double-sided tape.

I love the double-sided tape. If you have to install drywall on the ceiling you will find the feature of having numbers on the back very useful. I also like that fractions are written so I don't have to count dashes. You see immediatelly if it is 3/4 or 7/8. I did improve the lock feature by filing little grooves into the slider to make it less slippery. I found original design a little hard to operate with one hand as my thumb kept slipping off while trying to unlock the slider.

Terrific tape measures

I have bought many tape measures over the 35 years I have been a home owner, and these are among the best.The housing of both tape measures is bright yellow and black. The yellow makes them easier to locate than the traditional all-steel design. The black portions feel rubberized, and they are easy to hold and don't slip. Each tape measure has a wrist strap and a belt clip. Sturdy tab ends hold the measure on either side securely in place.The retractable tapes of both are white on one side and yellow on the reverse. The white side is in inches and the reverse is in inches and centimeters. The white side has 16 markings on one side of the measure and 32 on the other. The 32 side is marked in eighths. On the yellow side the markings are 16ths for inches and tenths for centimeters. Both sides are marked at 16 inch intervals for studs and have alternate measure in total inches or centimeters and feet and inches (ex: 1F2 inches and 14 inches).The tape measures work a little differently from each other. The measure with a red button stops automatically as you pull it out. When you push the button the tape retracts, but it stops as soon as you stop pushing it, even if the tape is still extended. The other tape measure doesn’t stop until you engage the red pull-down lever, and it stays extended until you push it up again. You can also push the black button on the bottom of the measure to temporarily stop the tape. When you release the black button the tape quickly retracts.I am happy I found these. Now the only problem I have is to keep them from being permanently “borrowed” by the rest of my family.
