This is a great item to keep in your car for road trips with your dog. So many times I've had my dog with me and I'm out longer than expected or in places without access to fresh water and have had to resort to pouring water from my water bottle into my hands for my mini schnauzer McKinley to drink from. It is compact and flat when you fold it up, and is very sturdy when opened up. I really like it for hiking because it has an attached clip to hold a water bottle, so you can keep the bowl flat, hold the water bottle attached to it, and then easily access both for a quick stop while out hiking or walking.
