Designing the Supply Chain with a Quality Perspective (Paperback)

Due to the complexity of the supply chain, sourcing and distribution activities within the supply chain require a fair deal of orchestrating in order to eliminate delays and other inefficiencies. Also with many industries today on the quest of improving their quality systems, finding ways to reduce nonconformities and failure of products is crucial. This work aims at the modeling, analysis, and design of supply chain networks with the integration of quality costing functions. The work explores the concept of supply chain network design and evaluates the global emergence of a real need for designing the supply chain as to optimize all operations it encompasses. The work evaluates the emergence of stronger relationships between suppliers, manufactures, and distributors and the surfacing of the concept of supply chain integration. The work introduces a supply chain model that integrates cost of quality and utilizes an aerospace example to assess the practical implications.
