Had to drill fastener holes for assembly to work.

This bookshelf is particle wood with veneer overlay. The 'wood grain look' is nice. Assembly was difficult, the holes for fasteners were too small. I had to drill them out to get this bookshelf together and use wood glue for the wooden dowel pins. Instructions (illustrations) were confusing and generally I have no problems putting these types of furniture items together and usually enjoy doing it. I'm not sure how sturdy this will be considering how flimsy the construction is. Photo of item was very appealing and that's why I purchased it. I would not recommend it for heavy items.
