This Should Make a Positive 'Possum Home!

POSITIVES: Solidly built. Very Possum friendly design. Made of recycled plastic- YAY. I'm sure, when properly mounted, Opossums would love this cozy home. NEGATIVES: Heavy, heavy, heavy. Instructions recommend two people mount this. I didn't have that. Comes with mounting screws, but I didn't understand how they were inferring this be mounted on the back. Description contains no pics of back. I tried climbing a ladder and lifting it into a tree, but it was so heavy and hard to handle, I started becoming afraid I would lose control of it and knock my teeth out. Not good. I settled for MacGuyvering it onto a lower branch of a tree I could reach without having to climb using heavy duty rope. (See pic.) Instructions recommend stuffing leaves in for nesting, but I put cleaner, shredded newspaper in. They intentionally used screws that need a special screwdriver head. WHY? Now there's no way to clean it out. SUGGESTIONS: Maybe make this with less thick plastic, to make it lighter. Put some kind of handles on it, to make this big house more manageable. Clearer way to mount. Make the bottom openable, so it can be periodically cleaned out. This was the only Possum box I found already made for sale. So, if you're willing to work with what I've found to be positives and negatives, I'm sure you'll have a lot of HAPPY 'Possums up your tree, too!
