Don't be quick to judge! It'll be your new favorit

As the reviews accrue you will find complaints about this yarn splitting, but I'm SO GLAD I didn't give up on it! First, the stats: I used a standard Boye 6” crochet hook in 4.25mm (a G hook) and I am working a loose double crochet for a lightweight spring/summer cropped sweater to wear over tanks. I'm brand new to crocheting and it takes me 14 seconds to work one double crochet, so I'm clearly not speeding through it. I'm right handed and I'm working the yarn from the center of the cake. About the yarn: This is a 100% rayon yarn made from bamboo. Rayon is isn't considered a “natural fiber” even though it is derived from wood, bamboo, or other natural materials. While the base fiber (in this case bamboo), it goes through intense chemical processing to achieve its soft silky feel. The fibers are very fine, relatively strong, and breathable. Rayon is an excellent material for summer or for those that are hot natured (or have hot flashes). Here are two important things I've learned about working with Lion Brand Truboo so far: 1) The first thing I noticed was yarn splitting. The first few yards I worked was like working 8 individual threads. It was bad enough that I thought the splitting was going to be a deal breaker. I tried crocheting from the other end (the outer end of the yarn) and frankly couldn't tell a difference. Thank goodness I didn't give up! 2) I went with crocheting using the center pulled yarn and as I worked further into the ball it became easier and easier. Part of it was a learning curve on my part, but it appears that I was gradually increasing the twist of the yarn as I went. I believe this was from the clockwise rotation as I ended each row, but others have noted it was from the center drawn yarn. After putting several hours into it, I'm in love with Truboo. It's a beautiful balance of luxurious silky fibers and resilient practicality. It even has amazing drape. Now that I've found my groove with it, I'm excited to invest in many more colors. This yarn is worth taking the time to get to know it. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I am. ❤️

If You Are Looking for Rayon This Won't Disappoint

I've always loved bamboo fabric and when I discovered Lion Brand's Truboo 100% Bamboo Rayon yarn, I got downright giddy about things. Silly of me, maybe, but as far as I was concerned, this was something wonderful, as my experience with bamboo fabrics is delight at their softness, comfort, and wonderful draping. I certainly wasn't disappointed when I got several skeins of both mulberry and slate Truboo and decided to make a blanket with them. The result, which I am still working on, is absolutely glorious. Just like the bamboo t-shirts I own, the blanket I'm building is soft, supple, drapes wonderfully, and has an aliveness you just don't get from acrylic yarns. It's well worth the extra expense, too. Truly.
