These valances are not lined or backed, they do not block complete sunlight. Machine washable. These decorative valances are perfect for themed events, special occasions, or everyday window decor. The rod pocket is actually one of those that needs a 2.5 inches flat rod. The hem is not finished other than a binding that is barely visible. I have decided to use them with a Graber flat spring rod and hope the lack of a hemline will not be obvious.
