Rubber-Cal’s General Purpose Rubber is a durable and cost-effective sheet rubber that can be used for a wide range of applications. These rubber sheets are made from a reliable synthetic rubber called styrene butadiene rubber (SBR). The large rubber sheets go through a chemical heating process called vulcanization to achieve the smooth finish and long-lasting industrial strength that styrene butadiene rubber is known for. This thin sheet rubber has a durometer of 60A, which gives the material a moderately hard surface with a little pliability. The rubber material has good resistance to indentation and abrasions, making it perfect for heavy-duty applications. SBR, unlike other types of synthetic rubber, is designed to withstand the harsh conditions of the outdoors. The rubber sheets are impervious to moisture and damaging weather effects such as UV rays or ozone. With a working temperature range from -10° F to 190° F, this hard sheet rubber maintains excellent performance, even in extreme heat. This makes the rubber sheeting ideal for industrial and commercial applications, as the synthetic rubber material can handle the intense friction of heavy machinery without being worn down. Our General Purpose synthetic rubbers are specially designed to handle such extreme conditions. Artificial rubber is highly valued for its abilities to enhance traction and absorb shock. Any sound, vibration, or movement that comes into contact with the hard rubber sheet is absorbed by it, and reduced by spreading it evenly across the surface. This makes the elastomer sheeting great for a limitless possibility of applications—everything from protective padding to soundproofing or insulation. This 1/16” rubber sheet is the thinnest of five gauges available and works best for flexible applications such as seals, gaskets, and industrial lining. The thin rubber sheets can also be cut into small pieces for even more possible applications. These adhesive-backed rubber sheets are versatile and come with pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing for easy DIY installation in any desired application.
