The sturdiness of the shatterproof plastic lens along with the thermometer's ability to withstand drops to the floor makes it a long term solution to any cooking or baking needs. This product also has a protective pocket sleeve with a recalibration wrench and can be use as an extended handle for the 0.08 lb thermometer. NSF listed. Helpful hints: This thermometers is not meant to be left in food during cooking. The plastic lens could be damaged with excessive heat. Important: Thermometer will be hot after use. Use potholders or oven mitts when handling hot thermometer.

Nice thermometer, Have to calibrate
This is a nice little food thermometer. I've read comments about people receiving the thermometer and it stays on 80 degrees. It has to be calibrated. Very simple and the “cover” is also what you use to calibrate it. The calibration instructions are on the back of the packaging.
