They really are glossy and shiny and the texture is exquisite. When I opened the box I was amazed and couldn't wait to drink coffee out of them. It does recommend hand washing for long-lasting use, but I'll test out the finish and texture after one run in the dishwasher.

The only thing you might dislike about these cups is that the finish can come off if not taken care of properly. They're beautiful cups, just the right size and feel good in your hand. I have washed them in the dishwasher on the top shelf, but prefer to hand wash them with a soft cloth.
