Improved and understated 5-10 pound cross of an early orange-fleshed honeydew and the prolific Stutz cantaloupe, the orange flesh organic Stutz Supreme honeydew delivers delicate, creamy fruit like that of cantaloupe but with the unmistakable sweetness of honeydew. The Stutz Supreme was developed by the notable American agriculturalist Joe Stutz who was based out of Chico, CA and used his expertise in melon crops to help cement his name with agricultural greats like John Bidwell and Henry Wallace. Grows just as readily and easily as cantaloupe, while providing variety in flavor and color. Honeydew is a full sun crop sown directly after the final frost but, for earliest starts, begin indoors 4-6 weeks prior. Plant 3-4 seeds .5 inch deep per cell or every 36-48 inches in the garden in loamy and well-drained soil in full sun. Germinates in 4-10 days, thin back to 1 plant before transplant. Melons perform optimally when grown on 8-10 inch tall mounds to accommodate long, trailing vines. Melons can be trellised for smaller, tight grow spaces and gardens. About 900 seeds per ounce.
