garage window

Overall I am pleased with the product and results, just what I was looking for. To buy a panel with windows installed was gonna cost $2200 so not an option. I have put windows in garage doors before, its very easy so this time around I knew what to expect. A kit to fit my door width was not offered given my door is insulated thus I had to trim the foam down to recess the back panel so it was flush and the screws reached. I suppose one could get longer screws but I did not care to do this. This was the only PITA. The inserts only work one way. The install instruction picture did not account for inserts. The screwed side is on the inside and the flush smooth side street side. The crossed insert has a raised side that should be towards the street side but I could not make that work with my situation. Not a big deal as it looks just as good, I am happy with it. I filled voids around each window frame with foam backer rod and then caulked around each frame. Last time I put windows in I did it with the panel in place, this time I removed the panel and laid it across saw horses. When done, you should be able to lift your door by hand, if not , due added weight, you may have to rebalance the door. I have never done that, the windows don't add that much more weight plus I removed material cutting the holes out so it should be a wash anyways. Lots of natural light in the garage now.

GREAT DIY PROJECT !!!!!!!!!!!!

I looked on and off for a few years for windows for my garage door. I finally found "shed windows and more" and so glad i did!! Once i got the windows i could not wait to put them in. Great DIY project. Changed the entire look of the house and i love the light in the garage. 12 windows + insulate the garage doors - start to finish (with an extra trip to Home Depot) 6 hours. It is easiest to install the window with an extra set of hands. I did mine while leaving the garage door in place. LOVE MY SHED WINDOWS AND MORE GARAGE DOOR WINDOWS!!!
