Vintage International Klara and the Sun: A GMA Book Club Pick, (Paperback)

My first exposure to Kazuo Ishiguro was disappointing given his reputation. It's basically The Secret Garden with a robot - indoor kid gets sunlight and recovers from illness. The "hook" is that it's told from the POV of the kid's robot friend. Ishiguro suffers from a lack of focus by including many themes that would be interesting on their own, but never developing them or bringing them to a conclusion. So the novel comes across as scattered and doesn't really have a point or say anything. His Nobel prize suggests his older books are much better.
