I've been studying Spanish on my own since August 2008. There are going to be days when you don't want to face a textbook and notes, so the next best thing you can do is have Spanish in front of you in some form.
I'm a Nintendo DS addict anyway, so this has been a valuable addition to my DS library and my Spanish curriculum.
I'm one of the Walmart associates that has an hour lunch, and that's an hour that can be used for studying. If I'm not feeling up to bringing books and notes to work, I just bring my DS and this "game."
This is not a superficial introduction to Spanish.. this is a very competent language-learning tool. The mini-games really do help you pick up vocabulary words effectively.
Better yet, all the content is spoken out loud by a native speaker.
There are dictionary and pronunciation tools as well. If you've really read up on this product, you know that you're able to record your pronunciation with the DS' microphone and compare it to the native speaker's.
The ONLY drawback... in-depth coverage of forming grown-up, real-world sentences is not covered very well. But can you expect a video game to have EVERYTHING?
Just the way cereal commercials are obligated to say "part of a balanced breakfast," MySpanish Coach IS a valuable, if not essential part of a Spanish-learning regimen, especially if you're like me, not relying on a school program to learn Spanish. Here's where you can blur the lines between work and play and not waste valuable time.
I do have more powerful and sophisticated language tools, like Berlitz Learning System, the difference being that the DS fits in my locker and my pocket.
All in all, I'm a satisfied customer. I think you will be, too.
