The HyperTough Decoy Security Camera looks real enough to deter the average person possessing malicious or criminal thoughts. The red LED light is an important aspect of the decoy camera. The enclosed instructions indicate the included "heavy duty" batteries should last about 2-3 months. I haven't installed it yet but can see all that I'll need to do is pre-drill 3 holes in wood trim above my covered deck and attach the camera mount to the trim using 3 included phillips head screws. Drywall anchors are also included in the box. Checking and/or replacing the AA batteries periodically is something I'll add to my calendar of events in order to maximize the appearance of authenticity. I sometimes notice suspicious foot traffic behind my townhome and occasionally find that someone has stolen a snow shovel or other item left on the deck, so maybe the decoy camera will put a stop to such thievery. To install the batteries, unscrew and remove the plastic ring around the lens. Use one hand to shake the camera toward the outstretched palm of your other hand and the LED lens (attached to the battery tray) will pop out. The red LED power indicator appears to turn itself off when reasonably bright light is detected. I've used decoy security cameras in a commercial setting in the past and feel they do help to deter certain individuals from engaging in unwanted behaviour.

What with the rise of burglaries and security problems in various buildings and surrounding across the country, this camera could be a great addition to one's security profile. This device looks the part. It is a simple and cost effective device to use as a deterrent to potential thieves. The camera really LOOKS like an authentic security cam and it features a realistic red flashing light that mimics the real thing. Installation was easy Simply twist off camera cap and install the 3 AAA batteries which are included. Twist the cap back on and install the camera where needed. Mounting screws and hardware are also included in the package. it is for indoor use only and is small enough to fit just about anywhere. Fully extended, its about 4 1/2" long. The camera also comes with a 2 year limited warranty. A really good decoy camera.
