Gary Esolen was an enigma of a man whose voice, words, and actions left an indellible mark on the political and cultural fabric of New Orleans. As a founding editor of Gambit Weekly, Esolen wrote passionately on issues of poverty, inequality, racism, and about the future of the city for which he cared deeply. In addition to his work at Gambit, Esolen was the first executive director of the New Orleans Tourism and Marketing Corporation, a position he held for ten years. Esolen died on September 16, 2016 following a short illness. This manuscript of poems was nearly completed at the time of his death.
