Bear in mind that this is instant, okay? I'm not saying to buy this instead of supporting local Indian businesses, or that this product devalues freshly-cooked dal or something. But the quality of this is so good! And it's big enough for me and my mom to get amply-sized portions! The texture is what I was most afraid of but it's still nice and there are some firm beans in there, still. The second thing I was afraid of, of course, was the taste. Whilst I was heating it in the pan, it kind of smelled like chili so I was scared, but once I had my first bite, I could not help but smile. Dal Makhni is my comfort food and this comes very close, and I don't have to wait for an hour to get my fix because the restaurant I'm having it delivered from is too far away. It's a good source of protein and fiber, you can eat it with bread or rice, it comes in an easy-open bag --- what more can I say?
