Good for smoothies on the go and sauces

I bought this a month ago and now I can't imagine life without it. I make an oat and banana smoothie every morning With the flat blade. The blender itself is pretty quiet (for a blender) and suctions well to the counter top so I usually leave it to do it's thing whilst I finish my morning routine (although it takes seconds so I could wait). I'm also a huge cook and like to cook a lot of things from scratch. Which means sauces, spices, nuts all need to become a puree. I use the 4 edged blade and this works well, sometimes I give it a little shake to help it a long but i personally have not had a problem. I would recommend using a little water, yoghurt, milk or oil to help solid items cut but that's normal for a cut blender.

So far so good!

I've had mine over 6 months now and am very happy with it. In fact I'm only revisiting it because I'm ordering a 2nd one for my daughter. So that's about as good a recommendation as I can give. It has 2 sets of blades, one flat for ice and the upturned ones for smoothies, etc. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that sometimes it's hard to turn it far enough for it to engage the safety switch (which is why I think one of the reviews says it wouldn't run at all). This was especially so when it was new. Once you know the issue you'll learn to turn it harder clockwise. Otherwise for the price I think it's great value.

It's a bit of a pain to say the least..

I purchased this blender online and it was delivered a week ago. It's been a little of a pain since I got it... At the first use the rubber ring on the blade base wrapped around the blade and got nicked. I had been using a regular blender for my smoothies and I thought to get smaller one to reduce the mess allowing me to use the same large cup to blend and drink from. It does take longer to get the smooth desired texture. The motor sometimes stops even when it has not been on for more than half a minute. I'm having to start and stop so many times to allow the motor to cool it takes me a good half hour to get the expected result. Sometimes the base is not steady and spins around itself when the blender is on. I'm having to hold it so it does not fall off the counter or get wrapped around its electric cord. At times while the blender is on, the cup gets undone and some of its content spills all over. Again I have to hold it to prevent the mess. When the smoothie is finally ready and I am about to enjoy it the blade base is so tight on the cup from the spinning around, the tightening, and the holding that I have to get someone stronger to take it out for me. I will give it a few more tries and see but if this keeps happening I will have to return it.
