HOW TO TEACH YOUR PET TO RETRIEVE: Start out in an enclosed area like a hallway or small room as you begin teaching your dog how to retrieve. A smaller area helps your dog focus better on you and what you are trying to teach him. Some dogs may not understand what a retrieving toy is so you must introduce it to them slowly and repeatedly. Encourage playtime by getting them excited, bounce the ball, roll it around, place a treat or kibble inside the ball, call them to bring the toy back to you when you toss it. During this time also give your dog plenty of encouragement, when they return to you with the toy, rub their ears, tell them what a good job they are doing, give them treats, consistently praise them. Repeat this every time you play with your pet and you will find they will pick up retrieving quickly.

It's been great for tossing and retrieving
I have a young Doberman who lives for toss and fetching. This unique shaped ball is one of his favorites. I stuff it with treats to reward him when he retrieves the ball and then he brings it back so I can added more treats. The ball has held up really well especially with his rough play and chewing habits.
