Roy Kirkham, a highly skilled artisan copper plate engraver, established the Pottery business in the early 1970s. Initially, the company focused on crafting character jugs and figurines. However, it later gained global recognition for its production of fine bone china. Kirkham's recipe for the fine bone china clay, consisting of bone ash (44%), feldspar (30%), and kaolin clay (26%), resulted in a stunning translucent appearance. Remarkably, this blend also provided superior strength and chip resistance compared to other porcelain products. Today, every ceramic item from Roy Kirkham is meticulously crafted using the same premium grade fine bone china, adhering to the principles perfected over two centuries ago.
