Armour Lard 8lb pail

I use this lard for making batches of Zick's peanut butter suet for the birds. It's handy to have the larger tub for making multiple batches. On occasion, I have used this lard for frying chicken and cornbread. It helps creating a crispy crust. It has a neutral taste. Some brands of lard can be strong and overpower the food you are frying, not this one. I also clean and re-use the tub after the lard is gone.

get you some!

I've been using lard in a suet recipe for my tweety birds at the feeders (they love it), but yesterday I decided to try using it in a recipe for biscuits. They came out more flavorful than ones I'd made with shortening AND there was no need for Tums. Biscuits are always followed by a great need for antacids. Will I be using it in further recipe adventures instead of shortening? You betcha!

I believe this is the healthiest fat to use for cooking. When I was growing up I would go to my great grandparents for the summer and this is what they used and my great grandmother lived until she was 98 and my great grandfather was 4 years younger than her and he lived until he was 97. My grandparents and my parents were die hard Crisco shortening users they lived long lives, but none of them lived past 90 so I believe ( in my opinion)this lard is best if you are a frequent fryer to prolong your life instead of all of the cooking oils
