Pennington Ultimate Plus Northern Grass Seed and Fertilizer Mix, Sun to Partial Shade, 20 lb.

In only ten days, we are already seeing tons of bright green grass sprouts that are at least two inches tall! This is in an area in our back yard where nothing grows very well. My husband did clean and then lightly rake all the soil in the area first, then generously spread the seed just using his hands in an even pattern (as even as he could get it). He sprinkled some leftover top soil, which was a by-product from the raking he did, over the top of some of the seed. The day after he put the seed out, though, we had a pretty good rain that moved the seed around a bit. Within just a few days, we started seeing tiny green sprouts poking through the dirt. We are so thrilled, we plan to buy a few more bags to really cover our small back yard area. The area where we planted the seeds gets a few hours of afternoon sun, but is under some very large Fir trees here in the Pacific Northwest, so it is in the shade all the rest of the time. Spreading the seed could not have been any easier. The bag was a good size, maybe slightly on the small side, but I did not expect them to ship a large fifty pound bag. The bag was adequate to do a light coating over our back play area, but we will get another bag or two to fill in the bare spots. It arrived nicely bagged and packed, no problems at all in the shipping. The growth rate was absolutely amazing- lightning fast!
