Ozark Trail LED 420 Lumens Flashlight,3*AAA Batteries

A flashlight with hidden potential. I don't use the 3 AAA batteries in this light. I use a flat top 18650 battery. "But it doesn't fit." You're right but you can make it fit. Unscrew the telescoping light end, the whole housing so you have the moving part still inside the housing. Then remove that almost 1/4" thick spacer that prevents a 18650 battery from fitting. Screw the housing back on, making sure when it gets to the point of the housing spinning but the light module not spinning to add slight to moderate pressure against the threads and finish tightening. Best way to explain that would be to use the same motion as if you were trying to break it in half with your hands, but without actually trying to do that, then finish tightening. Get some paper and cut it longways so that it's shorter than the battery when wrapped around it. How short isn't that important as long as it stops the battery from wiggling around and centers it. Wrap your paper around the battery, not exceeding the positive end and not so thick it doesn't fit and put your FLAT TOP 18650 positive end down and once in you won't have to really deal with the wrapping part again since the battery will slide out for you to charge it. Battery must be a flat top and screwing on the end cap/switch you'll know why. The little nub on the non-flat batteries is enough for this to not work at all as screwing on the cap may involve turning it to the left so you can feel where the threads meet then tightening. You may not be able to get it on all the way but halfway is fine Enjoy your now 900-ish lumens (guessed but looks about twice as bright) flashlight. Note: The 18650 batteries with the recharge port sacrifice amperage to make room for the charging circuit which won't make it brighter in the end. The whole point of this is to use a 2500 mah rated 18650. It runs a little on the warm side but hasn't shut off on me for thermal reasons yet.
