Great tires!

The fuel fighter champions have proven to hold their own wear wise, new they have I believe 10/32nds and after about 26,000 miles they have about 7.5/32nds left. They ride quiet and smooth down the highway. Slush/ice/rain traction is exactly what you would expect from a tire not exclusively for winter use. When these tires inevitably wear out (which should realisticallly be near the 70,000 mile mark) I would repurchase and replace them with new fuel fighter champions.

Great MPG - A must for Hybrid

I purchased the Firehawk AS initially thinking I could save on the tires but still get the mpg's I was with the original tires that came with the vehicle. Well I was wrong and immediately noticed a difference in my vehicles ability to coast and didnt go on battery as often or at the same speeds after purchase. So without changing driving habits I lost about 5 to 7 mpg.... I then took advantage of the buy and try 30 day guarantee and upgraded to the Champ Fuel Fighters and would do it again! These are now my tires of choise and wish I had done this for my wifes vehicle. I am now back to 42 - 45 mpg rather than 35 - 37 and notice my vehicle coasting better and going on battery more often immediately. Without changing driving habits the tires made a noticeable difference within the first 24 hours of upgrade.

On my second set

My all time favorite Firestone tire is the LH-30, which I bought every time I could until they stopped making them. Compared to those, no other tire has ever excited me. The Champion Fuel Fighters are okay and a decent value. I got 90,000 miles out of the first set, but then I usually get more than the guaranteed life out of any set (I'm not a particularly aggressive driver - I drive for a living and don't care for spending my entire day trying to compete with everyone who believes freeways are race tracks). I had hoped to get another summer out of these and replace them in the fall just before winter, but they started squealing on freeway entrance ramps and I was an easy sell. I did not notice much if any difference in gas mileage compared to any previous set, usually low 40s in summer and high 30s in winter. I recall only once did the vehicle have a hard time negotiating a hill in winter with these tires, but it was snowing very hard and every other vehicle was also having difficulty getting up any kind of grade.
