This premium brake replacement set from Walmart is perfect to use as bike brake cables and for index shifting. It is specifically designed for multi-speed bicycle shifting system's brakes. It uses a compression-less house that is fully compatible with most index shifters. The packaging includes two brakes and two gear shifter cables. Plus, the ferrules and housing are also included. Tools called out in bicycle's owner's product manual for adjusting brakes. Cable Cutters. Awl or Ice Picks

- Loosen and remove existing Cable and Cable Housing
- Remove new Cable from new Housing
- Measure and cut new Housing same length as original Housing
- Insert Awl into end of cable Housing to enlarge opening as needed
- Install new cable Housing same as original Housing
- Place new Ferrules on cut end of new Housing as needed
- Route new brake Cable through new Housing and insert Cable Barrel-end into Brake Lever
- Adjust Brakes according to bike's original Owner's Manual
- When fully adjusted, cut Cable end with cable cutters leaving 1-2" cable
- Crimp supplied Cable Cap on Cable end ‐ using crimpers or Pliers

As good as a high $$ Ike shop.
Great set for rebuilding a bike that's been neglected, all the cable and housing needed to refit a bike. Use a cable cutter to shorten them and a little lubricating into the housing / covers before installation and your good to go. Note the cable cutter shears them clean where wire cutters will mash the housing making assembly a real pain.

Best deal and this comes with everything you need to replace all your cables . I used these my first time ever and had no problem changing them out on one of my bikes and i bought more for 2 other bikes. My bikes are riding so much better with new parts i buy all my replacement parts at Walmart now

this worked great on my 25 year old Huffy bike, did not need the brake cables but the shift cables were perfect. Do not cut the tubes that hold the cables unless you absolutely have to.
