My "nephew" Pete was climbing and scratching my sisters front porch decorative tree, and I said I know what he needs! His "cousins" have 1 and love it! Pete lives outside, but stays on the porch except to do his "business". He doesn't go climb trees etc even tho he has free range! My 2 cats are inside, so they have a standing scratching post and then one like this. And they only want the one like this one! They play on it as well. Climbing under it etc. Pete instantly knew what his board was for, and has left the decorative tree alone :) Don't worry about Pete being outside. They rescued him on a deserted stretch of a highway as a kitten, was going to rehome him since they don't do inside animals, but Pete claimed them as his own, and they loved him right back!! He has a nice house and enjoys rocking in the porch rocking chair, and in the cold weather, he has a heating pad in his house and if it goes off, he knocks at the front door and someone gets up to turn it on (even at night) . Yes, he actually knocks at the door to get them to turn his heating pad turned on :) Now pete has his own board. This board is well made. Seems a little pricey, but Petes happiness and saving my sisters tree was worth every penny!!

Giving your cats scratching posts is good for them as it exercises their muscles as well as save your furniture and carpets from being scratched. My cats love this type of scratch post style as they stand on it and scratch away. Very sturdy and strong. That little feather keeps my cats entertained for a few minutes. Only problem is that the length is not long enough. But it sures beats those horrible cardboard ones that leave cardboard pieces everywhere, including your woolly socks 😫
