Key item features

Have you ever wondered why we Christians do what we do for church every Sunday morning? Why do we “dress up” for church? Why does the pastor preach a sermon each week? Why do we have pews, steeples, choirs, and seminaries? This volume reveals the startling truth: most of what Christians do in present-day churches is not rooted in the New Testament, but in pagan culture and rituals developed long after the death of the apostles. Coauthors Frank Viola and George Barna support their thesis with compelling historical evidence in the first-ever book to document the full story of modern Christian church practices.

This Book Has Changed How We Do Church

Well researched and easy to read, but not if you aren't ready to change how you follow Christ. I readthis book expecting to hate it and in many ways I did because it challenged everything I have ever believed about what a Church should be and what Christianity is. It has changed the way do do church! It has changed the way I follow Christ. If you're tired of going to church - read this book. If you want a career in ministry, think twice!

Getting down to the roots of our traditions...

The book was incredible, it gave academic research as to how things have gotten the way they are in the church today. The tone of the book is written not in anger, but with a genuine dissatisfaction and a desire to see the church be who (we) are meant to be, with no preservatives added.....! I loved it!
