Nylon Insert Lock Nuts are hex nuts that have an undersized nylon washer inserted on top that serves as a locking mechanism. The nylon washer grips the thread of the bolt to "lock" the nut on and prevent loosening.

Nylon Insert Lock Nuts come in a variety of materials, gardes and platings, as well as different types of hex sizes for a wide range of applications, from engines and turbines to bridge construction to simple general use.

These are the most common locknuts and can be reused several times. Thet are not reccommended for high temperature (above 250 degrees Farenheit).
