The tripod is solid and will be strong enough to secure a DSLR; however, my purpose is to use with a webcam on my desk to raise the webcam to my eye level for video conferencing for work. (I'm on Teams calls for work with my team and my clients all day.) The kit offers an awesome value that includes a mount for my cell phone, a bluetooth remote that works with my Android (generic) camera app, and a mount for my webcam (will work with other cameras). The footprint on my desk is about the size of a hand. I don't think it's possible to make the footprint smaller to be stable, but I'd prefer smaller since the real estate of my table is just so valuable (I don't like clutter). All in all, I'd recommend this. Although, I didn't buy it for my phone, but I've found the mount is universal so it could be use with other Tripod. I use the mount and the bluetooth remote more often than I thought I would. These give me opportunities to have great photos with my own family during the shelter-in-place and the composition of us in the frame is so much better than doing an arm-length selfie or using a selfie stick (sticks are always awkward to use).
