I just bought this for my 6-year-old nephew for his birthday (to encourage the budding artist in him), and I am about to buy either this book or another from this artist, Thaneeya McArdle, for myself! This coloring book -as well as the others in her series -is intended to be an adult coloring book. However, I think it is suitable for any artistic child who is of reading age or is very artistic and is at the stage where they have some patience and can color very well within the lines. I love that there are a half dozen pages in the front of the book that discuss some basics of color theory, shading, blending, patterns, and other tips for working with colored pencils, etc. Thaneeya also provides some completed examples of her work, so you can be inspired by or even reproduce her color palettes. She also has a website where you can see every page of this and her other coloring books before you buy. May I just say, this is book is not only very cute but absolutely beautiful. The illustrations are gorgeous but also appealing to kids! I chose this for my nephew so he can learn how to color -I also bought him two kids books on how to draw animals and funny people along with plenty of construction paper and tracing paper plus 100 colored pencils; I think the three books combined will help him learn to draw well and use some advanced techniques to select and apply color. I got so excited by this book that I decided I could benefit by taking up adult coloring as a hobby -it's great to keep the mind entertained, sharp, work the left brain, and relax... destress! Although I didn't see this book in person, I saw every page in a video on the author's website. Trust me... it's gorgeous. Go to her web and see. You should buy this!
