I was actually surprised at how well built this was. It actually doesn't let liquid penetrate. When my cat pees on the couch cover, I can can just spray the pee neutralizing spray and wipe off. These are very thick and easy to wash. Like most covers they are hard to keep in place with kids and pets so there will be a lot of rearranging them. I've washed them several times in hot water and hot tumble dryer and I haven't noticed any difference in water resistance.
