Oreck Cordless Handheld Vacuum Cleaner - Lightweight

This is my 3rd Compact Canister Vacuum from Oreck. I think the previous two lasted about 14-16 years each. I keep coming back to this vacuum because: 1. it is lightweight and easy to move wherever I need it; 2. the suction is really good, even when the bag is nearly full; and 3. the parts/accessories have been interchangeable between the units. I know folks have complained about the new hose being too tight/stiff and it has cracked easily. Upon inspection of my new tool and its accessories I can see where that might be the case. But the hose from my older unit works with the new one, so I'm going to use it until it falls apart. And all of the other accessories from my old unit are still in pretty good shape (either they are made really tough or I don't use them enough!), so I'll use them until they are worn out. My old unit was still working well, except that I had strained the connection between the power cord and the electronics. Thirteen+ years of trying to reach just beyond the long reach of the power cord finally took its toll on the vacuum (as long as I held the power cord just right, the vacuum would function perfectly - I just got tired of constantly holding the power cord). I DO like the new on/off rocker switch - I think it functions better than the slider switch that was on my old unit. I'm ambivalent about the cord storage wrap area - I use the vacuum at least once a day, so I just leave the cord loose. The big test for me will be how long the cord fitting into the body of the unit and the connection to the electronics lasts. This new unit has the cable coming out of the underside of the unit and it faces forward. I'm not sure how that will hold up over time if I am trying to reach beyond the length of the power cord, but time will tell.
