Can't go wrong

Exceptional TV with lots of options to get almost any kind picture you want. Therein lies the problem for me though. Coming from a plasma TV from 2012 that had a beautiful picture and only had like 4 picture settings, standard, movie, gaming, and energy saving. The LG picture menu options and features were overwhelming to me and took hours and hours to get it the way I wanted (basically the way my plasma looked) which was frustrating. Then I find you have to set the picture options for each type of content separately - SDR, HDR, and Vision and those each have somewhat different picture menu options! Then because it's not plasma, you also have to figure out what you like on the motion smoothing settings which gets confusing with other options like “real cinema” that are in a separate menu that does similar things on its own but can't be used in conjunction with the other motion settings. I hate the he soap opera effect so I thought I'd be good just turning it all off but wow did I finally understand what “jutter” is when I did that and it was jarring when I came to like a panning scene in a movie. So I relented and found a user customized motion setting which let me dial it in just a little and seems to be just right but unfortunately it's just not as natural looking (or easy) as my old plasma was - there's still a little bit of jutter in panning scenes but any more motion smoothing and the soap opera effect becomes apparent (to me, but everyone is different). This is apparently not unique to LG or anything else not plasma but from my research LG is one of the best options out there. Also, all the AI settings I found frustrating and ultimately worthless. Like some of the AI settings allegedly optimize picture settings real time depending on what's playing or what brightness your room is but it ended up being frustrating because the picture settings would change fairly noticeably at times and then once I painstakingly finagled for hours to get things the way I wanted I didn't want those settings getting overridden by AI. Even getting everything to preference for each video type, you still may find yourself having to change picture settings for certain movies or content on occasion because they're just not jiving with whatever content you're watching - like some of the settings I like for movies makes YouTube content look yellowed or too warm. I also did not find the manual's description of most settings useful at all and you really have to try them to know what you like. All that aside, the picture quality is so real it's unreal in a way. It's bright. It's crisp. It's got customization out the wazoo. It uses less energy than plasma and emits less radiation and heat. It's one of if not the best OLED in its class right now, especially considering it has HDR and Dolby Vision. Do I still miss my plasma? Yes. But this is the best equivalent I can buy and as time goes on I enjoy it more seeing things in a way I never had before.

As advertised

Had all the parts we needed to get it up and running quickly. Good clear picture. Prompts on the screen were easy to follow.
