It's all right but fix the elopement risks

Not a bad little pad for the price. I'll give the cons first, to be followed by the pros. Cons: 1. It takes a bit to figure out assembly - does not come with anything remotely resembling instructions, especially not in English. (There's a little sticker in what looks to my untrained eye like Chinese, but it doesn't look like instructions either.) You can do this, though. Use the photo in the ad. 2. It's a little cheaply constructed, with things not fitting snugly, some questionable construction, but not too poor to use or anything. 3. DANGER! This is the most significant flaw, so do fix this. There are several places that could present elopement risk, that you will definitely want to check carefully and shore up. The doors are especially sketch, in that the thumb holes are big enough for a small hamster or gerbil and almost any mouse to climb thru, and they're wide enough to get the interest of whoever might like to gnaw. Would not take much to enlarge them that way. Also the upper part of the doors don't fit very snugly and could be pushed or pulled enough for escape. I've found that shoring up the thumb holes with strong packing tape, from the outside, seems to discourage them from messing with this part because, although they could chew thru the tape they don't like the stickiness on their whiskers. So it's a DIY fix, but this is not ideal. You can tape the doors shut to keep them from being pushed enough for escape, but again not ideal and not at all as handy as it would be to just have well- made doors without these issues. There are gaps/holes that seem to be places for accessories. There are plugs included for 3 of them: make sure to use those. And screw the included clear grills against the back, because the colored plastic is more chewable than the clear, so the clear grills will prevent issues. There's a big round hole that, unless you're going to be adding a tube accessory, you should secure well, maybe with tape. It has an attached middle, but it's only attached by 2 small bits of plastic so get some strong, clear, tape with this or find some other way to shore it up. (It's behind the water bottle, to the left in the photo, not very obvious until you look close.) There's a slot in the middle of the back that could use tape or something, to keep the chewing away. 4. The colored bottom is less friendly for cleaning than the clear surfaces. So those were the cons. But there are good things about this, too! Pros: 1. It comes with pretty much everything you'll need to start out - water bottle, dish, toys, exercise wheel, nesting places. Lots to do! 2. Enriched digs to keep em happy. 3. It's bright and colorful and easy to see in from sides, front, and top. 4. There's a place to add a tube (order separately), should you want to expand. 5. No wires, which mice are famous for getting out between. It's roomy for a couple of mice or a small hamster. WAY too small for rat or guinea pig.
