The doctor suggested one other thing that could be tried--that she return to where the trauma took place. She was sent back to where the trauma took her memory. Her struggles to remember were slowly overcome.

The sudden death of Catherine's father left her alone and bewildered until her sister Cynthia suggested she take a year off, make it her time, return to her writing and illustrating, travel to Holland as she had planned when she finished college, and also learn about their ancestry.

Catherine went to Holland and fell deeply in love with the country and a Dutchman named Felix Zee. She saw Holland through Felix's eyes as he gave her many tours. But then a violent storm came and took his life. She was unsure if she wanted to stay in Holland or go back home.
