Everything I Wanted

I was looking for a laptop that I could use for both home and business. Key features included solid state drive, great screen size, USB and HDMI ports, and light weight.

I'm reviewing this on the basis of it being a ...

I'm reviewing this on the basis of it being a 'premium' laptop and therefore I have high expectations for it, I'm also an IT professional and have used many types of laptops in the past, however this is my first 2-in-1. **: The device is a good weight and the keyboard, track pad are amazing and a joy to use. The speakers are some of the best I've ever heard on a laptop this size - great work on them! The pen is also great to use both for drawing and taking notes. The screen is matt and very bright (great for outdoors) - I wish however that there was a means of dimming it more than it currently allows. I also like (and hate!) the security features. Cons: The device does heat up during normal office use / with lots of browser tabs open. I also feel that this impacts the performance, for example I have a dual-core 7th gen i7 (from another brand) which seems to run much faster, but of course that isn't a 2-in-1 and bulkier, so the cooling is probably a lot more effective. Therefore I don't think the performance (for the spec) is very great - its meant to be a quad-core CPU and often it doesn't feel like it! I also find the system unstable - I've had a blue screen a few times and its refused to boot a couple of times; an issue I've rarely had on my other premium machines. The finger sensor is close to useless and works about 40% of the time. Windows hello based on facial recognition is fine. I'm having all sorts of issues with the security software, whilst I think having it has its pros (as mentioned above) - there are probably too many cons with it; its buggy and crashes often - for e.g. when trying to open office docs from a USB drive (which I know are safe). I feel that it also slows down the system considerably and regret having it on; maybe ** someone who isn't so tech-savvy it'll be very useful, but if you like to tinker then this isn't the device for you. In summary, its a great physical build of a laptop, but I feel the inner cooling design as well as the software let it down considerably.
