    Perfect mid-size ladder

For those who want the quick review, this ladder is EASY to... lift, store, transport, erect, and collapse. And at 10.5 feet long, will easily reach almost every first-story roof. OK, the details: Let's start with storage - minimal space required. It's only a hair over 2.5 feet tall - far less space taken up than an extension ladder or even a step ladder. How 'bout moving/transportation? Again, no big deal - It's a bit heavier than your typical lightweight aluminum step ladder, but much lighter than the extension version. When collapsed, you simply tuck it under your arm and haul it away - it even has a smooth finger pad under the bottom rung. And as for transportation... when was the last time you were able to fit a 10-foot ladder in the trunk of a Honda Civic?? To set it up, simply unhook the clasped band (a lot like the kiddy straps in the grocery store shopping cart) and pull up on the top section of the ladder. Each layer locks in place 'till the entire ladder is extended. Reversing the process is even easier. Push the two spring-loaded sliders embedded in the bottom rung and the ladder collapses - slowly, one rung at a time. It took all of 15 seconds to extend, and about 10 to collapse - what could be simpler?? It's also nice to see the max weight limit for the climber is 300 pounds. Typical lightweight step-ladders are 200-250 pound capacity. The only drawback I could see is - at 10.5 feet (14 foot "reach") you may not be able to access (for example) the top of the windows on the second story of the average 2-story home or business. Bottom line, would I recommend it - absolutely!

    Awesome ladder

I am so glad they started making convenient ladders that do not take much space in your closet! My house is very limited on space so everything has to be compact and folding, collapsible and shrinkable. That is why I was so happy when I got this ladder. It is 8 feet tall when open and only about two or three feet when collapsed. It is super easy to open it and even easier to close. Every point has a red and green indicator to let you know if the ladder is properly open. When closing the ladder it is almost impossible to pinch your fingers since the ladder has a special mechanism that allows it to collapse slowly, therefore preventing pinched fingers and a lot of cursing. The ladder is made out of aluminum which makes it very light and easy to carry around. I would definitely recommend it for anybody's house because it takes almost no space and is very durable and reliable.

    Nice comfortable climb

I am fortunate to receive this COSCO Smart Close Telescoping Ladder from The Spark Reviewer Program. This is an excellent extension ladder. What I liked best was the climb. I got the feel compared to other aluminum ladders popular brand names included that you were on sturdy footing. I have read tons of reviews about people feeling there ladder will not hold there weight. Those were name brands. This ladder does quite the opposite. There is no flexibility in the steps so you get the sense when climbing up to the roof that its safe and secure. I could feel relaxed while working on the ladder. I should add that the ladder I was using was the 12.5ft ladder with max reach of 16ft. Again I had max reach of 16ft. I could tell by the number of rungs on the ladder which is 12. I measured the ladder from top point to bottom and it was just over 12.5 maybe even close to 13ft. I like the longer ladder because I now have the flexibility to use outdoor for gutter cleaning while also being able to use indoor to paint a wall or wash walls. The portability is what makes this the ladder that it is. I brought this outside in the garage and the first thing I noticed was my other aluminum ladder was stored way at the top of the ceiling in the garage while this one is about 3ft. This Cosco ladder is quite easy to carry. The way its designed makes you feel like you're carrying a suitcase. It is somewhat heavy but that is expected. I believe the weight was roughly 25lbs. The ladder locks into place and each rung of the ladder goes from red to green showing that the rung is locked and ready to go. There was some effort needed to open and close the ladder to the desired height. My biggest workout was opening and closing the ladder to different levels and moving from room to room. It was no big deal just carrying the ladder once I had it at a set height. It seemed a little confusing at first as to how to open and close. With that amount of weight it was a bit stressful. Once I got the hang of how the ladder worked things went a little better. Yet, the biggest thing I noticed was how much safer the climb felt compared to name brand aluminum ladders. This wasn't bouncy like you feel on others. It was easy to move around the gutter and compacts to a small storage size. To conclude: Seems tricky at first and watch your back. After you get the feel of the opening and closing its as good as I've found for the price for a nice extension ladder that can be used both indoors and outdoors. One final point: I noticed a lot of people asking about sizes of this ladder. Again, the one I used was a 12.5ft ladder with a maximum reach of 16ft. I could never reach that 16ft mark. You can tell the size by the number of steps. 12 steps=12ft. The Cosco Smartclose ladder is also made in smaller sizes which are a bit lighter but not sure if they would reach a roof outside. I would highly recommend.
