Para ayudarlo, varios animales le ofrecen varias soluciones que lo embellecerán: debe ponerse plumas, usar un abrigo de colores, llevar gorra, colocarse un pico de ave, etcétera. Al final de la historia, descubre que no tiene que disfrazarse para que su mamá lo quiera. Ella lo acepta tal como es y la razón por la cual no lo abraza es porque las babosas ¡no tienen brazos! This story stars a slug, otherwise known as a small land mollusk. He very much wants his mom to hug him, like he’s seen other moms do with their kids. But his mom doesn’t want to hug him. Why not? The sensitive slug suspects that the reason is because he’s very ugly. In order to help him, different animals give him tips on how to beautify himself: he should wear feathers, or a colorful coat, or a hat, or a bird’s beak . . . At the end of the story, the slug discovers he doesn’t need to disguise himself to earn his mom’s love. She accepts him just the way she is—and the reason she doesn’t hug him is because slugs don’t have arms! This story offers valuable lessons in self-esteem and self-acceptance.
