Worship and Christian Identity in Uganda (Paperback)

Christianity came to Uganda in the Identities of Protestant (Anglican) and Roman Catholic denominations. Africans struggled to fit into these received identities and some opted to form Independent African Instituted Churches. The translation of the scriptures and the liturgies into vernacular have availed the opportunity for Africans to enter into the true understanding of the mission of Christ into this world. Worship in the mother-tongue has built bridges between the different Christian denominations and made Christianity a mother-tongue religion that has a mission to other mother-tongues of the world. This understanding has ecclesiastical and missiological implications for the church in Africa. It fills the many a times hopeless African situation with gracefilled hope.
