Yearly Devotional Answers Questions about God

“365 Bible Answers for Curious Kids is the perfect daily devotional to help children find biblical answers to their questions about God, the Bible, and the Christian faith,” states the back jacket of this book. ~ What ~ At four-hundred pages, this hardbound for seven to ten-year-olds is meant to answer questions about God and the Bible every day throughout a year. Using mainly the International Children's Bible, it also references the ESV, KNJ, MSG, NCV, NIV, NKJV, NLT, NRSV, RSV, TLB, and ERV versions. A red marker ribbon is attached. With each day of the year at the top of the page with a topic, a written Bible verse follows with one to four paragraphs. A one-line highlighted prayer is given, and occasionally there is a “Want to know more” section of other dates in the book that relate to the focused page. The ending includes a topical index. ~Why ~ This book would be good for children who want to know more about God's Word. I like some of the subjects as they are geared to asking God “about anything” including characteristics of Him, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, Bible, Christianity, Prayer, Church, eternal salvation, famous Christians, and seasons/holidays/traditions. One of my favorite dates is July 19th about amazing fun facts in the Bible. After writing out 2 Kings 9:30, the paragraphs mention how the Scriptures contains dogs, lions, donkey, and sheep as well as the number of times each. It also says that Adam and Eve did not eat an apple in the Garden of Eden but most likely an apricot. The prayer states “Thank You, God, for Your awesome, fun, fact-filled, living Bible!” while the references are to read July 28th and 29th's devotions. ~ Why Not ~ Those who do not believe in Jesus Christ as their personal savior may not appreciate this devotional. Some parents may question why horoscopes, fortune-telling, and Ouija boards, as well as many saints, are included. Others may think some of the book's contents are too mature for the targeted age group. ~ Wish ~ Although I greatly appreciate a book that challenges and engages young children to learn more about God and the Bible through a devotional while also adding many famous Christians, I wish it were more cautious when dealing with some of the worldly topics that may further tempt young ones. ~ Want ~ If you are looking for a devotional that concentrates on God, the Bible, functioning in the world as a believer, and famous Christians, this may be a good choice, but it may be too mature for those below middle school age, so I have marked it down accordingly. Thanks to BookLook Bloggers for this complimentary book that I am under no obligation to review.
