The album mixes elements of the genres go-go, zouk, funk, and jazz, combining electronic instruments with live musicians. The composition quot;Mr. Pastoriusquot;, featuring drummer Al Foster, is a tribute to late jazz bassist Jaco Pastorius. Miles Davis is among the most influential and acclaimed figures in the history of jazz and 20th century music. With his ever-changing directions in music, Davis was at the forefront of a number of major stylistic developments in jazz over his five-decade career. In 2006, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which recognized him as quot;one of the key figures in the history of jazzquot;.
