Great shoe. Not perfect, but great

I currently have a pair of Ride 10s, and also a pair of NB 880s. Both shoes are very similar in style, performance and price. Both are great options. The biggest differences are in the weight and cushion. The Ride 10s are defiantly lighter. The Ride 10s also have a softer feel, and more give in the cushion. Which is best though. It's hard to say, but I can tell you this... I use my NB's as daily drivers, and when I run at the gym. I reserve the Ride 10s for when I run outside. I don't want to wear them out on a treadmill or walking around. So that seems to me like the Ride 10s are better. But.... I do feel, sometimes, like the cushion is just a wee bit too soft. Like just a bit. I'd take either to a marathon, but probably the Ride 10s.

Like running with pillows on your feet

I got into running a year and a half ago as a 39 year old and just bought a pair of Nike running shoes off the shelf. After every run I had a sharp pain in my left calf (soleus muscle) and just assumed this was the way it was going to be. After 10 months I decided to go to an actual fitness store and talk with lifetime runners to find a pair of shoes that are meant for me. Oh how I wish I would have done that from the get go! After trying on several pairs the Ride 10's felt perfect. Went home and did a 5 mile run and was like having pillows on my feet. The sharp pain in my leg was not present and there was a moment of tears of joy. I've been running with two pairs (indoor and outdoor) for the last 7 months and have completed in a 5k and a 10k. With a half marathon coming up in 3 months I feel confident with these on my feet. I cannot recommend these shoes enough. Saucony, you all are awesome!

    So far so awesome!

Just bought this shoe and I've put about 30 miles on it so far. Need to say, I'm a Brooks convert. The Ghost was my shoe before but I wanted to try something different this time around. What I've liked about the Ghost is what I like even better about the new Ride.. and that's the responsiveness right under the balls of my feet. Very bouncy. The shoe is also about an ounce lighter than the Ghost and it feels lower, wider and more stable. Also, it's got an 8mm drop opposed to the 12mm drop like the Ghost. To this day, I don't know of another shoe that has a 12mm drop and I'm not sure that's such a great thing. So 8mm is more conventional which won't pigeon hole you into one shoe forever. It also encourages more midfoot and toe striking opposed to heal striking. Don't get me wrong, the Ghost is an awesome shoe.. But I think the new Saucony Ride 10 is better.. keep making them this way and I'll keep my Ghosts in the closet.
