Samsung Galaxy S8+ S-View Flip Cover, Silver

The silver cover looks like a mirror in front. I don't need to use the camera to see my face. It is translucent, so the phone's display shows through. However, when the flip cover is closed, the time and date only display for a few seconds, so you need to push the power button to see the time and date. If the cover is left open, there is the normal AOD (always on display). The flip cover makes the case slightly bulkier than a case without a front cover, and the back of the case is two layers to make it into a stand, so more bulk. The phone fits snugly into the case, but the four corner edges that hold it in place don't seem to stick up over the glass, which means no protection if the phone is dropped. Also, the flip cover does not have a magnet to keep it closed in case of drops. I had a similar cover on an older phone. When I dropped the phone, the cover opened on the way down, and the glass cracked when the phone hit the pavement. I worry about the case scratching since I keep it in my pocket with my keys, but after 3 days, no scratches. I like the looks of the case, so I would probably buy it again.

Part of what I'm sharing is also based on what I experienced using a similar cover for the S6+. I use the cover to help my grip when I take pictures of something. Not much into selfies so I won't say anything about that. Protects the phone from all the wear and tear of putting the device in pockets, on tables, well. The matted back gets better grip on surfaces versus the previous iteration of this cover for the S6+ series. The inner material of the cover that touches the display (feels like rubber to me) shouldn't be abrasive to your display. The marks on the side of the phone to indicate where the volume buttons (and Bixby button) is more visible - which I like. The spine of the cover is now for the whole length of the cover, which makes it more sturdy than previous incarnations. The new stand functionality is a welcome addition. I _really_ wanted one before. Phone is snug in the case as always. Eventually, there would be scuff marks on the cover, but better there than your phone right?
