I need to preface... I'm a walker, not a runner. That being said, I've been on a hunt for weeks for new shoe. Been a Nimbus fan for years but they ruined that shoe. They now feel like you're walking on concrete. I hope this short review helps someone... My left foot has Morton's Neuroma. I need a very soft insert or I die. My left foot has developed a nasty case of plantar fasciitis. There's a small bone spur, but I think I damaged the tendon where it attaches to the heel by jumping... No shoe works now, doctor wants to give me a second cortisone shot. I think I've tried every shoe made and was ready to give up. Enter the Tonin 4 Plush. The footbed on this shoe is otherworldly. Cannot feel the M.N. and after only 2 days in them, My P.F. pain has gone from a 10 to a 2! I can tell already that I should be able to end the doctor visits and therapy! It truly is amazing, I don't even require the orthotic I've been wearing for 15 years! I'm sure the zero drop is helping offload the heel ever so slightly, whatever it is, I'm sold. Only complaint I have with the shoe is, and please hear this Altra... the shoe is way tight at the top, right where the laces end. It smashes the balls of my foot into the bottom of the shoe and if I'm just sitting, they have to come off. Why is the shoe so tight in this area? Like others have complained in all review sites I've read, there is extra material down where the tongue ends up top, causing a clamping of the forefoot. It's just so wierd why this wasn't caught in development. If not for this, it would be the perfect shoe! Again, the footbed is to die for!!! The rest of the show is perfect. Great heel lock, super ventilated at the toes. Come on, guys... loosen up the clamp just behind the toes!! I was able to make a couple of wood wedges that I put in to stretch the shoe. This was just enough to make the shoe acceptable. I sometimes have to remove the shoes if I'm just sitting, but the comfort this they afford me is totally worth it...
