Another winner by Shelley Shepard Gray

Mark Fisher has been dealt a lousy hand his entire life. His childhood was seasoned with beatings from his father, days without food, clothing that didn't fit and was never clean and a mother who left he and his little brother to endure it all. Mark returns to Hart County with the goal of buying his childhood home in order to both literally and figuratively sweep the cobwebs from every corner. Waneta Cain has always been a little afraid of Mark and is still leery of him when he returns home. She takes a huge step in faith and decides to be as pleasant as possible to this troubled young man. As they get better acquainted, their feelings for each other blossom. Just as it looks like life has smiled on them both, another attack happens and everyone looks to Mark. Shelley Shepard Gray has written a book that will draw you in and hold tight until the final page. Don't miss this second book in the Amish of Hart County series!

Another win for the author

This is the second book in the Amish of Hart County series, and just like the first book, this one is JUST as amazing. I love how Shelley crafts raw and real situations. This book had me keep turning the pages. The story is refreshing to know that even though the Amish live separate from us, sometimes we can't outrun our past. God is always there. I loved the twists and turns through out this book. This can be read as a standalone - but I highly recommend reading in order. They are BOTH really good. I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author --- all opinions are my own.

Amish Community

This Amish Community makes me think that people are judged by the acts of their parents, and no matter how many years go by, no one seems to forget or accept. At least until the author introduces us to a preacher to lives his faith and encourages Mark Fisher to return to his roots and take over the empty home that has been left to him. Surprisingly Mark has stayed steady in his Amish faith, but that doesn't mean that the congregation here will forgive and forget. We are also introduced to another young woman, she has not stayed Amish, but has tried to return to her hometown, and will she succeed or finally leave. Neeta soon discovers Mark working at the green house she works in, but she gives him the same cold shoulder the rest of the community does. The author will have you questioning whether Mark is a good guy, or is it his wayward brother, or who, as someone is attacking and almost killing young Amish women, and it doesn't help that Mark was questioned a long time ago about an attack. Will this community ever come together and live up to their faith, you will be surprised how things turn out, and it keeps surprising right up to the last page. I received this book through Lit Fuse Publicity Book Tours, and was not required to give a positive review.
