Fiberboard, not wood.

The nightstand is made out of fiberboard with a walnut colored laminate, not actually out of walnut. It looks as pictured, and it is indeed on the short side (18", which we knew before purchase), so bought 10" long hairpin legs which would bump it up to about 23" high. It still looks great though!

SHRIMPY! Had to order longer legs

I love the color, style and quality of this nightstand for the price, but it is so small it is laughable! It looks like miniature furniture. Look at it compared to my other nightstand. The lamp I have for it is taller than the nightstand. They need to lengthen the legs to be 12 - 16" legs instead of 5". I ordered 16" hairpin legs of amazon, hoping this will help.
