I used to have a car cover but that one was made out of canvas and really heavy to get on by yourself. This one isn't as heavy and much easier to put on. The weight of the canvas one I had was what probably made up the heaviness of it. This one has 6 layers of protection too which amazed me because it seems much thinner than the old one. They have reinforced all the seams so water can't seep through them and if you live in the city where you have to park on the street those reflective corners would be nice too along with the lock and cable. I live in the country so don't plan on locking mine up although if it's real windy, I just might. The most important thing here is to get the right size so it fits nice and snug. I lived in the desert for a few years and we really needed a car cover there because of the dust. We figured this out once when we had just bought a new car and then there was a dust storm. It took nearly every bit of the paint off it. So for less than a $100 we could have saved that expense if we had figured this out ahead of time. This one is supposed to protect your vehicle against wind, rain, sun, dirt and dust but will it protect it in a dust storm? I don't know the answer to that and if that is what you are getting it for, you might want to email the company and ask them first. In Kentucky the things we worry about are falling limbs and hail and I think this one will provide some protection for that. This is also scratch free material that will not damage your vehicle.
