About this item
Product details
As its name implies, this variety is straight and is at its best when it is 8" long. This great, dependable home garden variety can be used for pickling when small or for slicing when larger. The vigorous vines are resistant to mosaic virus. It has average water needs and takes bout 60 days to reach maturity. Historians generally agree that the first cucumbers grew in India's Himalyan Mountains over 3,000 years ago. From this region they expanded into Greece and Rome; the Romans most likely spread this vegetable to the rest of Europe. The cucumber was widely grown by native Americans through the influence of the Spanish and other explorers. Cucumbers continue to be a vital part of traditional cuisine in Russia and many parts of Asia; the greatest variety of colors and shapes of this vegetable can still be found in its Asian birthplace. Straight Eight cucumbers in particular were developed because of the demand for straight cucumbers; they exceeded all expectations, and won the AAS Gold Medal Award in 1935.

cucumbers
Pretty much the same review as with the sweet corn. Very satisfied. I am not sure if the cucumbers are up yet in the garden. I think I planted onions in the same spot that I planted the cucumbers; but I think it will all work out. this is my favorite cucumber seed. they do very well. Very satisfied with ordering from you. Straight Eight Cucumber Seeds XL
These were started inside on a work table in the sunroom on the northeast side of the house in a Jiffy Pellet tray. Expecting a few days, I was amazed at how rapidly they germinated; they sprouted overnight and within 2 to 3 days they were pushing up the tray cover. Every planted seed germinated. I have already planted them in a "Patio Picker" above-ground garden, and they are standing about 6 inches tall and have begun to put on additional leaves (beyond the original two). Wow! This was my first time ordering from Everwilde Farms, Inc. I was initially a little hesitant, but it turned out to be an excellent decision and I will order from them again. The order was filled quickly and I received it within a week. It was very well packaged. The seed packets were all intact. The information on each packet was clear and very useful -- more info than I've ever seen on a seed packet before. Overall I'm giving this purchase 5 out of 5 stars. I am a very satisfied customer.
