The Nankang AS-1 is an All-Season High Performance Tire designed for drivers of all makes and models of sports coupes, sedans and smaller SUV's. The advanced tread compound is molded into an asymmetric tread design that provides increased handling and traction in all types of weather conditions. The AS-1 is available in 13-21 inch sizes, and comes in T, H, V, W, and Y-speed ratings along with a 40,000 mile tread life warranty.
The AS-1 features a curved shoulder design and larger outside shoulder blocks that enhance cornering grip and provides added steering response and feel. This gives the tire more stability throughout the speed range. Two circumferential grooves and the addition of angled tread blocks combine with a silica enhanced tread compound to promote wet surface traction and handling, as well as to evacuate water from under the tread and reduce the risk of hydroplaning. Unique sipe bars around the tread help promote better handling on wet or snow covered roads.

OVERVIEW

The Nankang AS-1 is a performance and high performance, all season tire manufactured for passenger vehicles and SUVs. This model also has some touring sizes.

The tire guarantees exceptional all weather road gripping ability. The silica-based tire compound and the asymmetric dual zone tread design boost the dry, wet and winter weather traction. The silica compound maintains its excellent flexibility in all temperatures, while the dual zone tread splits the tread surface up to a dry and a wet and winter zone to utilize the tread's full road gripping capacity. The wide grooves prevent hydroplaning by eliminating water and slush from beneath the tire's footprint to improve the wet and winter weather driving safety.

The tread pattern promotes an effortless controllability. The outer shoulder's rigid tread block sequence improves the cornering ability and power. It provides additional biting edges in such conditions which enhances the cornering and maneuvering ability greatly. The tire's steering responsiveness and driving stability also get increased. The shoulder tread pattern improves the steering responsiveness and precision, which ensures a safer driving experience. The tire's constant road contact stabilizes its structure during the drive and enhances its performance in all weather.

The AS-1 was manufactured with a silica-enhanced compound, which lowers its overall weight. This allows the tire to decrease its rolling resistance by easing the driving pressure off the tire. The reduced rolling resistance lessens the vehicle's fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, offering an environmentally friendly and fuel efficient driving experience. The lower rolling resistance also manages to extend the tread life. It slows the tread wear rate down, which, along with the even tread wear provided by the optimized siping design of the tread, extend the tire's usability as well.

Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
